Symmetry Hosts Local Author Book Signing

Communications Coach Encourages Commitment to Self

Sara Sharpe, author of A Dress, A Ring, Promises to SelfNASHVILLE, Tenn.  – April 26, 2012 – Symmetry hosts a book signing for local author, Sara Sharpe, on Tuesday, May 15th from 5:30-7:30pm (Open House). Her book, A Dress, A Ring, Promises to Self: an unconventional wedding planner for one. This event is free and open to the public. This event takes place at Vanderbilt-area retail and book store, Symmetry, located at 212 Louise Avenue in Nashville (37203) next to Café Coco.

Several years ago, Sara Sharpe bought a long white dress, a huge bundle of flowers, and a ring that she wears to this day. She stayed up all night writing a list of promises to herself, building a temporary altar at which to perform a commitment ceremony for and by herself, and decorating her cheerful purple room at the Balsam Mountain Inn in Balsam, North Carolina. In short, she "married herself."

Few would argue with the notion that it is hard, if not impossible, to love, honor and care for another if one does not first learn to love, honor and care for one’s self. Some things deserve to be elevated to ritual status, and making the sort of commitment described in A Dress, A Ring, Promises to Self: an unconventional wedding planner for one is, Sara argues, one of those things.

Retail and bookstore owner of Symmetry, Amy Kiger, adds, “Join Sara and friends in celebrating the release of her new book, A Dress, A Ring, Promises to Self: an unconventional wedding planner for one. We are delighted that one of our most popular workshop facilitators is now celebrating the release of a new book.”
